Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

The DMR is season three but I saw elsewhere there is also a new shotgun in the files (though not specifically the version from the early games).

Don’t forget a new equipment.

Forge continues to be incredible.

Halo Infinite’s Forge is indeed incredible.

The map in the first tweet looks like a proper dev-made map.

Season 3 will be the start of an increase in userbase, I can smell it.

Forge already have a good effect on player retention, just need a good push with new maps and social game modes.

Building up the playerbase is just gonna take time and consistency, if they can deliver a great season 3 (and it looks pretty positive so far) and keep it at 3 months then I think this will be the start of it as well.

Achieving proper seasonality (~3months) with Season 3 and beyond should be their priority. They have been pretty solid when it comes to making small updates like sandbox/weapon balancing, especially since the Winter Update IMO.

Yes just one more month, can’t wait for the bandit! I love DMR’s in general but I have a feeling Infinites will be the best of them all. Designwise this gun looks incredible

Y’all Gilkey is INSANE

I dont know if this is a hot take or not but as someone who finds myself bouncing on and off Infinite constantly I don’t think maps is what this game needs more than anything, although it certainly needs as much content as it can bring

But outside of the horrendous lag/desync, I feel this games biggest issue is uninteresting battle passes and xp system

The battle passes are in desperate need of cool stuff, this isn’t 2007, you’re going up against titans like Fortnite where they are running around as Goku or 100 other iconic characters, you need that cool stuff to bring people in nowadays, playing ā€œfor the fun of itā€ doesn’t do it for people anymore when there’s so much choice on the market

That combined with a progression system that just doesn’t feel rewarding, it’s no wonder it struggles to bring anyone knew in and keep them

In 2009, MW2 felt like crack not just because of how fun it was to play but because you were constantly getting pop ups that rewarded your play but constantly unlocking new skins, presaging and just generally giving you reasons to keep you playing

I share this hot take.

Most of all I want a fun, fleshed out progression system. The lack of weapons, vehicles and their respective upgrades/modules etc. really limit things though.

It would be nice if someone could Forge Hi-Fi Rush and the popular games. I think something like that could put HALO on the map again.

I would just shut off my game after this

I like Halo’s purity, I don’t need progression systems. Got bored of COD4 spamming me with meaningless fluff back in early 2008.

For me, what Infinite needs is better maps and lots of them. I want good map layouts and visually varied backdrops. Most maps being UNSC themed atrocities is a nightmare.

It’s fine you don’t but again, this isn’t 2007, if you want Halo to thrive and be relevant for casuals, it needs the hooks other games have and more maps isn’t going to keep casuals coming back

The days of playing a game purely for fun are long gone, spent endless hours playing Gears 1 in the late 00s for that but there’s too much competition nowadays

I’m making the most detailed map I’ve ever made, geared for HCS play. And it’s insane.

Well I don’t know what Halo could do at this point to regain relevance, Infinite’s reputation’s in shatters.

But Infinite had a strong launch and I think it would have retained much bigger playerbase if: a) it was more solid technically (no desync issues etc.) b) they kept the experience fresh, ie. the game had a steady stream of new maps and game modes. Instead, it shipped with very few maps and most were absolute duds.

If they roll community maps into matchmaking more regularly now and the new developer maps, the biggest issue I’ve had with the game might get resolved. We’re waiting for Infection and Griftball… so we’re at the stage where the game still needs to reintroduce the series’ staple modes, instead of having those and innovating with new ones.

Better progression might have helped with its popularity at large, I’m personally indifferent one way or the other, winter update already improved things somewhat but I don’t care either way if Halo becomes a glorified skinner box. I want the core experience to be great, varied and fresh.

I’m confused as to what’s Tatanka’s supposed to be? Some say it’s on UE5, but it would require a separate launcher and be a new game altogether, so it would do nothing for Infinite.

To me it seems you need to have continually new content that keeps the gameplay flow constantly changing making the game feel new every season. The idea should be like with episodic tv series which is what FORTNITE does. FORTNITE has become a platform on its own with new content that looks to me like trailers or demos for games. HALO to me likewise as to become more than just a shooter, it needs to become like a platform. They should be incorporating everything Xbox there. All these games coming out on Xbox like Hi-Fi rush should have some kind of a map there. Just my 2 cents.
