Totally Agree, they were pretty tone deaf to that aspect. Also there was a member who asked that all the hardcore players and Halo youtubers absolutely love the current artstyle and they were very dismissive about it. Maybe they don’t know that only because of the community feedback their artstyle changed.
One big critique of the podcast is that they hardly talk about games, its mostly a weekly news podcast and most of the time they hardly discuss the Xbox game that comes out. In the games regards Rand is the best, they always go into depth of the various aspects of the game, what makes the game good or bad where RDX is only good for tech talk.
Fonz’ rant about your comment was so idioticly off-base
A few of those guys seem to have a surprisingly bad concept of what Halo should be, visually, when compared to single player campaign games of a far more limited scope and scale
It’s fine. Fonz is good guy. I talked to him in DMs. I think many fans don’t trust 343 right now and they get opposite of the benefit of the doubt. I also believe that Halo fans who’ve stayed engaged in the direction of the franchise over the years have different wants (on average). Without giving a long winded explanation, it’s difficult to articulate why I don’t want 343 aiming to create Horizon or God of War level of visual detail.
Halo 5 was almost Power Rangers in space with the armour colours. It lost all semblance of a military unit. The Infinite artstyle is a 4K Halo 3 IMO. Very ‘Halo’.
I’m sure he is, he tends to get on my nerves though when he does that not as subtle as he thinks he’s being, type of misdirection. When he’s actually just fishing for compliments
Meaning when he went on afterwards about how “When I hear B.S. arguments, I call them out! That’s just how I am.” It’s like the guys who get all loud and start saying “one thing about me is…” and they go on about how honest they are, or how loyal, or how they don’t put up with certain things, “that’s just the way I am!”
Like okay buddy I get it, you want us to admire you, without being too obvious
Honestly even though some people hate the Library, I actually found it quite fun to gun down waves of flood with my trusty shotgun. Though, yes, it was repetitive as people have said.
I hope max hobberman(architect of halo 2’s multiplayer, and maps) and his studio certain affinity had serious influence on multiplayer map design.
He said last November they where doing contract work on infinite already for a year. Contractors can only work on a game for 18 months in the US so that means around end of may their contract should be up.
Here’s hoping his team made all the multiplayer maps, and handed over the design for another 10 or so. Then a year after launch they can contract them again(18 months on, 18 months off I believe is the law).
I do have faith in 343 to make a good multiplayer game, but their maps have always suffered. Certain affinities maps where always the best. They made some of the dlc maps for reach and those where also the best. Max is probably the best level designer I’m the bizz. Although I think he focuses more on making fun maps meanwhile 343 wants the focus on esports, ultra competitive maps and that’s why their maps suffer. I’m all about competitive but at the end of the day the maps need to be fun.
