It’s going to be really hard to hop in. They had a shot with SOCOM, until 3 or Confrontation happened. Actually, the latter practically damaged it severely. Not even 4 save them. Twisted Metal could have worked, but nope. Since competition was lacking earlier and they got third-party favor, they didn’t need them. With Xbox on the rise, it’s no wonder they now want to be part of it. Look at Sea of Thieves and other games. I’m willing to bet they thought they would get an easy success with Destruction All-Stars with PS Plus since it worked well with Fall Guys. Why else the game had a State of Play?
As of now, they don’t have a franchise that fits the bill. They can try, but it’s going to be tough. Really tough.
You can’t filter game modes yet, they’re all in there of course but they haven’t expanded the playlist. Hopefully they do that soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were trying to keep things easy to manage until after this weekend when they really get pummeled with player count.
Played a bunch of private matches with some friends tonight and had a great time. I just wish there was proper stat tracking! Literally anything is better than what we currently have, which is nothing.
Idk if I want to see my overall Kd. I’ve been in so many bad games, some I’ve just played bad and some it’s because I have to constantly sacrifice myself for objective to have any chance at winning.
Glad to see they’re responding. According to Benji-Sales’ livestream, they are already losing players at a higher rate than normal. Don’t get me (or him) wrong, it’s not time to sound the alarm bells yet, we need to see how it does over the weekend. That’s a big moment. If it’s not their peak, then they really need to step on the gas with those changes.
I kind of feel like scrapping both Breakout and Warzone is sad and that Halo Infinite is playing very safe so far (even if it is doing it perfectly although I wish there would be more maps).
Player retention is hard. Content is so important. And progression can be key to keep people motivated to engage. Overwatch mistakes that held it back, I hope 343i realize and correct this to avoid it.
Extending the xp boost from 30 minutes to one hour is good but its a half solution, make it so the timer only counts when you’re in game and not when you’re in menus, waiting for the matches to start, having server issues, etc too. There are several minutes where I’m stuck “waiting for other players”. And one can’t freely customise in between matches without feeling like they’re speed running the game.
