One thing I miss so far in Halo Infinite though is the purple and Covenant art style. I wish that the Banished environements would look a little more distinctive or alien. More red.
The Covenant installations had something grandiose or artistic lol (even though the Banished are known to be more “practical” and all we’ve seen are just mostly outposts).
Everytime those job listings pop up with that vague language emplying another game it has always been shut down cause we get a dozen articles insinuating it.
Also dont think 343 would want to split the eventual Infinite playerbase unless its for something like Halo Wars which is entirely different.
Watched the overview, I thought visuals are decent. Gameplay looks smooth and seems like it will be fun to explore Halo.
I have main concerns regarding the story. I dont follow the halo lore and I only play the games, So I hope I dont get lost in the story of the banished.
I really do hope the story is great, if not clearing those bases is going to get boring for me.
The thing with The Banished is that they are a very new and small (albeit growing fast) faction, unlike Covenant which is ancient and large and has had a lot of time to establish its unique identity across domains, be it architecture, design, weapons, religion, symbolism, etc. Whereas Banished is a faction of scavengers, who are spending more time scavenging others stuff and modifying it to make it their their own. As such, their characteristic architecture and design isn’t as grandiose as the Forerunners or the Covenant and is more “makeshift” or as you mentioned yourself, more practical. Being a wholly militaristic faction right now without any funding from anyone (unlike the Covenant) ensures they have no time to sit around and carve out an elaborate identity, so find whatever you can and make it your own is the name of the game. But I’m sure if they survive for long, hundreds to thousands of years, and aren’t entirely at war all the time, then yeah, they too will perhaps start having a more distinct and rich style.
Either way, I agree, I hope we see more environments of theirs outside just the outposts and some ship interior, but I doubt there is anything else of theirs to begin with lol. But we’ll see.
Not a single set piece of the 2018 trailer is gameplay. Cutscenes with controlled camera positions and focus on the beauty always look better. I think if you compare the 2018 trailer to the final cutscenes from Halo Infinite you will be pleased.
You also have to remember this 2018 trailer is only to confirm that Halo Infinite art is possible to represent with Slipspace. And they succeeded in that. Yes, vegetation with trees is way denser in the trailer. This always bugged me a bit. Then i remembered how shitty it is to drive the Warthog through the forests in FH4. Maybe this is for the better this way.
