Really scared right now guys. Legit getting Scalebound vibes. Please someone tell me it’s going to be ok.
Lol no way
The one thing that makes me confident that Halo Infinite is going to be stellar is that MS is going to spend as much time and money as needed to make it stellar, they know that Xbox can’t afford to have Halo be a sub par product. They could delay it to 2022 hell 2023.
And for fucks sake DITCH the Xbox One/X version of the game unless its being played through xCloud
I’m confident we’ll eventually see another Halo game. Will that be Infinite? Dunno at this point!
Sounds like Microsoft is trying to turn this shit around
I don’t think he’ll become the studio head and also I don’t think he wants to because he probably wants to work on other franchises. Technically he’s a Microsoft employee but he’s not a part of any specific studio
I don’t think Bonnie is leaving anytime soon, she’s also a good friend with Phil and according to Brian Fargo, she’s well liked in Microsoft. To be fair she isn’t directly involved in development of the game but she still is Chris Lee’s boss so she does shoulder some of the blame
To be honest Chris seemed like he didn’t have the experience to manage something of this caliber which is probably why Staten is taking over. With COVID I wouldn’t be surprised if this game now gets pushed back to late 2022 or even early 2023. No issue as long as the game turns out good.
It all sounds doom and gloom but Jason in the article says that he has been sidelined essentially since Staten arrived months ago.
I agree with the One/X comment. I was all for it but a year later? Just ditch it.
Which is common knowledge. Staten was brought in to lead the campaign and the other guy was brought over from mcc for the multiplayer. So that didn’t leave a spot for lee to be in charge anymore.
Makes sense. Halo has been underperforming with 343 for decades. Need to purge the whole group and start over. Interested to see if they can do anything to fix Infinite at this point.
I’m not calling for anyone’s heads here. But why would Bonnie be the one to stay. She is the head honcho.
Time to get a dump truck full of cash and make a call to Rod Ferguson’s house. I’m probably in the minority as I don’t really care if Halo is pushed to late 2021 or early 2022.
A shakeup in leadership was expected once Joesph and the producer (?) from the MCC was brought in.
This series is in a tricky spot because I think they should ditch the 10 year plan for the game, and get infinite out of the way. After Infinite is released they can reevaluate if they want to continue with Slipspace or use a better engine that can make game still feel like halo.
I just know they need to make sure the multiplayer has staying power because I feel Halo MP is tiers below what people want from a shooter. I do feel Halo arena is one of the best, but for some reason its not connecting with many, and hopefully Infinite can bring back Halo mp popular again. I do feel the need to hop on the BR wave because a halo BR can work on so many levels
Well, its a good thing I suppose. They are trying to fix Halo and what else can we hope for at this point.
Seems like the game was in development hell and the E3 demo was a sign. MSFT is now taking a closer look in to the project.
Aftee infinite may be MSFT should let another studio handle Halo
I used to work in the oil patch where screw ups cost millions of dollars. Screw ups cost limbs, too. And those people still have a job a day, a week, a month, a year, and a lifetime after.
Also, when it comes to these sorts of screw-ups it’s a cavalcade of issues. There is a shared responsibility and while some of the weight falls more heavily on a few individuals, you have high ranking people that must have known to some degree what was going on. The goal is to learn as much from this situation as possible.
There’s a massive opportunity here to learn a lesson that can be applied to the new studio The Initiative. The seemingly overreliance on contractors, the lack of communication, the unfocused design, the marketing mishaps, etc.
I say this because many developments studios are formed around a few core people that share a vision and professional chemistry. 343 was hobbled together to form a new studio, just as The Initiative is. The Initiative has a lot of fantastic talent but if they can’t work together, it doesn’t mean much.
This decision could have been made months ago, and he had to stay on to train his successor. The headlines may be shocking but for me it’s not a big deal. We all know the team is struggling for many reasons. This isn’t news. Changes needed to be made. I hope Chris Lee can stay with MS and can ensure that there are learnings from this. Software is tough.
Far as we know hes still at Microsoft
I have no worries over this game. I think Halo Infinite will be amazing. Jut the 8-minute demo showed pure and classic HALO gameplay. I really think that MS should have brought out the One X/S version for last year and then 343 would have had a year to focus on the Series X/S tech upgrades for this year.
That’s in the past now. I do think MS now needs to show off more of the game and multiplayer and maybe even allow some of the press to play it. Keeping everything behind closed doors just feeds the notion the game is in trouble
Another two weeks have flown by and it’s time for the next episode of our Halo Podcast! If anyone has any questions to ask, now is the time. So far we’ve been able to get to every single question and we hope to keep that up.
tldr; if you have any community questions, please post them now.
