Man, the game being technically rough is something I can deal with, but not being able to go online with it would be a huge downer. Even the messaging system and seeing people’s ghosts and bloodstain deaths is such an integral part of the experience, never mind not being able to co-op or invade. Hope they fix it soon for people affected.
So I played around 3 hours last night on a Series X. Performance isn’t perfect and it’s pretty obvious when the game hitches (I don’t have a VRR screen) but it’s not even remotely bad enough to be unplayable or even distracting. Tbh it’s kinda par for the course for From games not to have a solid frame rate.
If I could play Bloodborne 3 times at one of the worst 30 fps I’ve ever seen, then I don’t think I’m going to have a problem with Elden Ring at like 45-50.
The actual game is good so far too, but I haven’t had enough time with it yet.
So far I THINK I will enjoy this game long term, HOWEVER I FUCKING HATE respawning enemies in Souls games. Elden ring seemed to remove the horrible back tracking and have given you much more options in freedom and the ability to easily come back to harder spots and deal with bosses.
Holy crap though I HATE that enemies instantly respawn just because I go to a grace site. Screw that crap and I wish From would figure out a good compromise on that.
I go through a little village kill everyone loot everything and then go to a grace site and they instantly re appear. It’s stupid, frustrating and not even close to being even slightly realistic.
Since the game has legit day and night cycles WHY can’t they make it so area’s you clear out have enemies come in slowly over time. Trickle some enemies coming back maybe over 2 days or so in an area you clear out. It will make killing NPC’s more rewarding, it will give a better pace to leveling up and also make you have to plan things out better.
It should be, I clear out an area, save at a site of grace and that starts a 2-3 day timer where the area will slowly repopulate over that time. Giving me a chance to enjoy clearing out an area and a few days of easy movement.
So From seems to have fixed most of my issues with souls game except the biggest one at this point.
I like the respawn enemies. They are always in the same place. It’s good for leveling up and mastering an area. It’s like hitting the reset button on an area so you can quickly kill them all over again. Deathloop style.
PC reviews is up
This game is a mess… And it’s all on Form software
Alex does not recommended playing this game on PC
Stutters will be experienced whenever there are new assets in the scene to be rendered
Not even i9 and 3090 could help here
Poor optimisation from Devs on this game
Xbox VRR could be the only best option to play this game
Damn… Not a single game could come out clean these days
It certainly does seem beyond you
So much so you probably shouldn’t have said anything
Its a stupid mechanic and breaks immersion in an open world RPG.
It’s one of my favourite mechanics of these games and they’d be worse without it. It ties into the risk/reward aspect of the currency of souls you collect - do I press on through the level with my flasks running out but the enemies stay dead, or do I rest at the bonfire to replenish my flasks but the enemies come back? Start removing aspects like that and you’re edging closer and closer to a more generic adventure game.
I feel like I’ve hit a wall. There are three bosses I have savepoints next to but I can’t beat any of them.
Does anyone know a good place to grind runes? I need one more level for a new weapon and then I’ll try applying that ashes of whatever to it.
And does anyone know how to upgrade summons? I saw a tutorial message saying you could, I think.
Helping others beat bosses is a good way to get runes.
Totally forgot I’ve been playing offline. I’ll try that.
What a mess man, I’m glad I held off on buying this.
There’s a lot to fix for FromSoft and I wonder where their priority lies for Xbox. I bet they’ll first get on PS and PC, but we’ll see I guess. I just hope they fix everything that should just have been a given…for Xbox.
Network issues, co-op issues, framerate issues, unnecessary long loading times, lower resolution. Jesus bruh.
I feel like I’m not seeing a lot of the issues people are mentioning on here….
Could you imagine if that wasn’t a thing? Especially in this one
This place would have more complaints about how desolate and boring the open world was right now, then about stuttering and framefrate issues. It would be the worst thread ever for a game that got a 9.7 on Metacritic
What am I saying, it already is…but hey that’s just because there aren’t a lot of games that have gotten that rating before. So don’t take it personal guys. Actually go ahead, take it personal
~95 for a technical mess like this is a little too high imo, games with less issues were lambasted by critics. I see a little bias for From games in reviewers.
I sont mind monster respawns but they need to be something other than merely leaving the area and returning that triggers them.
I have a monitor with VRR so that obviously helps but ive had 0 technical issues
Are you xbox VRR?
Stuttering problem is on PC actually
On console not sure what’s the exact problem
You have online issue or not?
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like a bow is more useful than magic so far
