Elden Ring |OT| Rise Tarnished & Become The Elden Lord (of the dance!)

Odyssey deserves all the credits. Make no mistakes

Looks great in dolby vision better than HDR to my eyes

Good to know, I will test this out.

How are loading times, could you measure how long it takes to be back in the game after you die?

According to Jesse, 3-5 seconds average, less than 10 at worst and I assume that’s initial loading.

Was pretty quick about 10 seconds maybe

Going by their analysis, it rarely reaches 60 FPS on either console.

Goodness gracious this is going to take more optimization patches I’m sure.

All versions are not great frankly.

Honestly, From needs to start to be called out more for their technical ability /choices because it has been subpar for ages now and they have shown no sign of getting better.

They honestly need to offer a 30fps cap for the quality mode and drop the resolution further for performance.

Help, I’m stucked on Sellia and don’t know how to get back. It does not let me fast travel, I just started the game and accidently got to this area lol.

Do we know if it uses variable resolution scaling in performance mode? I assume it was supposed to be dynamic 4K/60.

Their fans are too busy

  • defending the lack of accessibility and being gatekeepy and against difficulty options
  • spamming ā€œgit gudā€
  • ā€œit’s how it’s meant to be playedā€

Instead of actual issues like absymal performance

I suppose the good news is that with a sub par PS5 mode; sub par Xbox mode and sub par pc mode, there’s a chance these issues will be maybe possibly could be some how might actually get fixed.

Maybe.

I was so willing to give them my money despite not being very tolerant of their game design… and I still am, if they fix their issues.

So, was the Day 1 patch a trick to not get performance to factor into reviews?

Considering that Jesse and Miles already confirmed that performance is better after the day one patch I don’t think this was a trick.

It does but it is obviously not agressive enough. It is a pet peeve of mine when developers offer it but it is not agressive enough, so the frame rate is still not solid when it is clear it is a GPU bottleneck.

Seems to depend on how big the area you’re loading into and out of are. Sometimes a load was 4 seconds and sometimes it was over 10 because it paused for a while at the start.

Perhaps trick was the wrong word. It does at least seem that one of the highest rated games of all time has performance issues that were either ignored (because it’s so good otherwise) or disregarded (due to the promise of performance improvement in day 1 patch).

I’ll repeatedly state that I never had an issue with performance in fights. It never felt bad to me outside of the open world raining sections. I know people focus so hard on numbers and maybe others will feel it more than I did but even on a TV with no VRR I never once said ā€œman… this framerateā€ it felt fine the entire time
