$2.2bn in costs for integration and fees was a little higher then I was expecting. I’m pretty sure this includes the fees for their advisors and lawyers so with the battle with regulators the lawyers probably earned some very hefty money

Chump change for a company like Microsoft obviously…

We need Sega to hire Fergusson, this will finally pour fuel to Phil’s fire as far as this acquisition is concerned

These are future costs. They are what it will cost to integrate the two businesses. Lot of work there. Integrating HR, finance, reporting lines ….

It’s possible it’s only integration costs but then where would they account for the lawyer fees and advisor fees? For similar size deals those accounted for mid nine figure sums.

This figure may include future legal costs but historic ones will be elsewhere. My guess is though that the figure excludes the cost of the acquisition itself.

It’s kind of wild to see the COD Facebook and Instagram pages, both with like 36 million followers combined, marketing MW3 with only the Playstation logo in it, since Sony has the marketing rights it does make sense for them to market the COD games themselves but to see stuff like “Play has no limit” in the freaking Facebook COD account really makes no sense to me, you’d think stuff like that would be for Sony to market because that’s their brand… not Activision, this marketing deal is way deeper than any other 3rd party relationship I’ve ever seen in this industry damn…

It makes sense. It’s the one game series that pays for the development of all of Sony’s first party titles.

Unfortunately the case will still proceed wasting everyone’s time. She’s just thrown out the motion that Microsoft can’t integrate ABK into Microsoft until the ruling. I really wish Microsoft could sue for costs in this case, it would be absolutely hilarious if the ‘gamers’ who are involved end up getting a legal bill that they would be paying off for the rest of their lives

Without the motion there isnt much point. They really needed that if it was going to have any meaningful impact (which we know it wont anyway).

They were looking for a payday, this dismissal essentially informs them of the outcome.

I doubt they stop same as the FTC. The FTC loss on the PI should have put them both off but they seem pretty determined to waste time and money

How many of you believed MS was willing to go this far to close the deal back when the CMA blocked it? Be honest! I lost all hope when that happened and still cant believe MS managed to beat them

I’ll be lying if I say I had 100% confidence. Admittedly, when the deal was blocked, I felt like a football fan with a team losing by a large in the first half. There’s a chance but it’s slim. Not sure if it’s because of the internet were largely negative, if so, mission accomplished. That said I still waited and hope for the best.

It wasn’t easy but the reward was extraordinary.
