Reported by the mail. Who also own Metro. It’s garbage tier news.
Hopefully now we can get the game everyone has wanted for years. Call of duty Ghosts 2
Continue to develop and sell acquired games and franchises on all relevant platforms - doesn’t sound like new titles in acquired existing franchises would be exclusive.
launch future titles on Xbox in addition to other relevant platforms specifically states that they would have at least thought about putting it other places.
(FYI) According to Tom Warren the ABK deal has been done with the CMA since July

There were many companies vying for Activision's cloud gaming rights. CMA gave Microsoft a list of companies they were happy with and Microsoft did make the decision for Ubisoft. Basically, the CMA… pic.twitter.com/JrVHHaJ1fi
Be interested to see who else was on the list alongside Ubisoft
It also show how trash comedy this past few weeks have been
Good read. I was unaware of the impact Brad Smith had had on Microsoft’s approach to dealing with regulators. I’d also never heard about the whole digital Geneva convention thing… Gonna have to read up on that.
Its in reference to already existing titles. Hence acquired. You cant aquire games that havent been made yet.
Microsoft doesnt write down “we will buy and make exclusive”, its something they do after the purchase completes (see Zenimax) …probably so regulators dont hold it over them.
I am amused by the fact that Sony are spending their marketing $ to market a game that Microsoft will get at least a 70% cut from….an Xbox first party game marketed big time by Sony…crazy times.
My big question out of all this is why did the CMA suddenly become ok with MS selling off the cloud rights? I just don’t believe that option was on the table before the deal was blocked. My hunch is that they suspected they were going to be overturned by CAT. Which is something they desperately did not want to happen. Their case about the cloud was always incredibly weak and they knew it.
Tom Warren has all the sources.
Remember when both MS and the CMA met thr appeal judge to cancel the appeal. The judge told the CMA “If you come back here in a few months, you’re going to lose”
Their days were numbered after the FTCs defeat.
It really is as simple as not wanting to be on an island by themselves. Once every other country decided to approve the deal UK was looking rather foolish. CAT honestly didn’t really care until UK started becoming isolated in their decision. UK was following the FTC lead the entire time and it ended up blowing up in their face and making them look stupid.
On Iron Lords Tom Warren says he thinks the CMA did the right thing, got the best deal of all regulators and their deal specifically means games aren’t locked to windows hosting which will in the long run save consumers money in his view.
Interesting that someone on the inside has this view.
He also said that in one of his early articles he flagged that cloud was going to be the big issue too.
Remember the rumored new IP from IW? Really hope it’s real please ![]()

Yeah, definitely hope this is still an ongoing project.
Warren also speculating that reason for lack of gamepass additions and suggestions of ‘wait a few months’ is down to the FTC appeal in December and MS wanting to avoid giving them any ammunition. Doesn’t make much sense to me but I did think announcement and Activision tweet were weird and sounds like insiders weren’t expecting those either….
Whatever. I agree you can’t acquire games that haven’t been made yet, but thankfully that’s not what the quote I provided said.
