Mantling is a really good addition to movement no matter the game. I don’t know which RPG did it first, but after Starfield did it, for me it was like playing Halo 5 and I thought about how obvious something like this should be.

The Horsecutter greatsword is so gross, it’s always covered in blood and if you walk around in 3rd or using it in first it has an animation of the blood dripping off. I kind of love it!

The most cursed outfut in the game, pants made of kith skin and gloves made from skin of Xaurips hands.

How do you kill blights with forcefield (shield)? I keep attacking them and they die eventually but it take a ton of hits

Heavy/charged attacks, they’re like shield enemies with some extra strong shields. That’s mostly if you’re using meele/guns/bows, applyng status will also help since fire and lightning apply a DOT.

While ice will freeze them to allow for some free hits, another option is to try to use non elemental explosives to knock enemies down. Although some enemies stand up pretty quick, wands also have upgrades to do explosive damage with charge attacks.

Finished the game yesterday as my game pass sub was almost over. It was a solid 8 for me. Loved seeing the Pillars world from a first person perspective and they did a great job implementing lore from the crpgs.

Combat was highlight though I wish there was more enemy variation. Exploration was generally a joy. Though it was a shame that a lot of the rewards were crafting components.

I generally liked the plot and the companions. Though the game does suffer from some presentation issues.

For example I didn’t like how the plot treated the companions. After some of the decisions you make in the game some of the companions should leave the party/become hostile unless somehow convinced it was for the best. That’s why I think it would be better if there were aditional companions. So that you could lose a couple along the way to give choices more impact.

I personally don’t see the lack of simulation aspects as a massive deal, but these things do tend to make a setting feel more alive, especially in first person games.

All in all it was a great experience, and someday I hope to see the entirety of Obsidian work on Pillars 3 to make it a AAA crpg like BG3.
