After Starfield are you more or less excited for Elder Scrolls 6?

Think there are definitely some areas that can be improved in melee combat. Would like to see them pick up some stuff from that first person zombie game that I can’t remember the name of right now.

Dying Light or Dead Island 2 ?

Dying Light, never played Dead Island 2 haha.

There are multiple perks that work with both melee and guns, some that I need to test but there is no mention of ranged weapons like the crippling perk, some I’m using armor penetration perk and have been recommend the jetpack combat perk(knock down, set on fire).

The martial arts perk that gives us a chance to disarm human enemies, the manipulation perks that allow us to force actions on enemies, the physical perks for combat slide and increased movement speed during combat. We also have powers that have certain range and benefit melee as much as gunplay, because their main function is crowd control.

Yes, we can be staggered the chance of it is lower than FO4 were it happens every hit from melee. I posted a video where I was hitting a super mutant and every hit forced them into a stagger animation allowing me to stun lock them. In Starfield every hit doesn’t cause instant stagger, which makes melee feel harder because of the of the lack of weapons customization.

Yes the melee combat in cyberpunk is better, it’s also better than Morrowind, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But it’s also not as good as using a ranged combat either, because just like in Fallout 4 and Starfield guns are still better.

  • crippling - down state which we already had in Skyrim

  • armor penetration perk is basically ignore armor and doesn’t add new gameplay variation

  • jetpack is unique but clunky to use in combat especially melee

  • Manipulation is basically Illusion or Mysticism 2.0

  • slide is new

  • you can disarm with bash or a shout. In Oblivion you could drain stamina with hand to hand if we want to talk about unique abilities

So we ignoring that melee attack have basically 4 hack/slash animation ?

Honestly we can put so many pro and contra about melee combat and in the end everyone has their own opinion. I still think it’s not a huge improvement compare to other Bethesda games.

Let’s agree to disagree.

OK.

Having an SSD gives devs an advantage in designing their game to be seamless, huge advantage. And doesn’t make it automatic but makes it much easier to devs than most previous hardware generations. We had seamless games on slow HDDs, like seriously if RDR2 can be that huge and detailed and be seamless on the damn Xbox One, any devs can make their games seamless with a fast SSD if they prioritize that and configure their engine for it. I don’t think Bethesda can’t because of whatever reason, I think they just need to prioritize it and they’ll figure it out if they wanted. Their engine has had dynamic world streaming since their 360 games, they can definitely take that aspect to the next level by leveraging the fact that they now have SSDs and maybe all the tech that’s in DirectX that they still haven’t utilized.

I thought you were joking…BUT WHAT THE FUCK OS THIS?!

Like…how? WHAT? How do you turn skyrim into that?! Thats why the creation engine is unique compared to the rest and everyone saying Bethesda should abandon it and go UE5…can rot in the deepest pit of hell! Ok no but screw the homogenization of gaming engines.

I hyped for it far more given how much the team improved the engine, how good the story was in Starfield, the lack of bugs and how good the performance was on consoles.

All bolds well for their next game in my opinion

Thing is, these videos show the combat in 3rd person. Try to have the same combat in 1st person. Impossible. It would be like a DMC or Bayonetta in 1st person. There is a reason why they don’t exist.

Imagine Starfield in 10 years. This is why, Day 1 reviews are irrelevant to those games.

You should check out Skyrim ultima, it really shows you how versatile the Creation Engine is if you push it to the limit. It can look as good as modern games, and this is a 12 year old engine. Imagine creation engine 2…… it can make Starfield look like Star Citizen lol.

I have to say more because now I hope Bethesda takes criticism a bit more seriously and makes some changes, I do agree that they need to improve on how they do facial animations and certain other things.

Well they can only review what’s currently available, not what the game will become and I doubt anyone can review Skyrim now taking modders into account nor should they in my opinion, what the vast majority of people will play is what Bethesda ends up creating themselves.
